Sustainability - our responsibility for the future

We are particularly proud of our modern electroplating plant, which we commissioned in 2009 at the Wipperfürth factory. It works without chromium VI, uses very little water and produces a coating that provides highly sustainable corrosion protection throughout its lifetime. This is another step we are taking to integrate innovative and environmentally friendly technologies into our processes.

Since the beginning of 2021, VOSS has been using only 100% green electricity from hydropower at its Wipperfürth site, and since 2022 it has been using eco-gas to improve our carbon footprint. CO2 emissions from combustion are measured and offset by the gas supplier through proven investment in climate change mitigation projects. At our international locations, too, we are implementing appropriate measures to meet our global responsibility and achieve our targets for CO2 reduction. 

In April 2022, our first photovoltaic system was commissioned, followed by a second in November 2023. These enable us to supply a growing number of battery or hybrid vehicles with self-generated power.

In product development, we increasingly focus on sustainable and bio-based materials. The recycling of sprues from certain materials has already made a significant contribution to maximizing the material utilization in the injection molding process for some time. For this purpose, we re-introduce these sprues as regranulate into the injection molding process and can therefore minimize waste. We are already successfully using recycled materials in some series processes.  

In addition, we have studied recycled and bio-based materials extensively in development and have created an extensive portfolio for sustainable materials. Numerous tests have been carried out to analyze the behavior of the materials in different applications and to see if they can replace existing materials.
