VOSS is expanding its range of services in the field of battery energy storage

The specialist for cable and connection systems, VOSS Automotive, is expanding its product portfolio to include solutions for liquid cooling for battery energy storage systems (Battery Energy Storage System - BESS).

The implementation of sustainability in industry is still a hotly debated topic, especially for manufacturing companies. The automotive industry is not exempt from this - the automotive supplier VOSS Automotive is also increasingly developing and researching sustainable technologies, including outside the vehicle sector, in order to work together with its customers on a more environmentally friendly future.

BESS: Making energy from renewable sources usable with optimal temperature control of the battery systems

 

For battery energy storage systems, called BESS, VOSS Automotive is modifying its efficient and integrated line and connection systems. BESS is a container with battery modules in which electricity from renewable energy sources is stored. In addition, BESS are used for frequency regulation. In the industrial sector, they can be used as an alternative to diesel generators as emergency generators and as an “uninterruptible power supply” (UPS).

In order to permanently maintain the optimal temperature range of the battery cells over their entire service life, VOSS is developing a pipe system with a vent valve and a so-called “double flow stop”, which prevents the cooling water from leaking when the battery modules are removed. The installation space-optimized and maintenance-free connection technology ensures user-friendly assembly and disassembly. These custom systems enable maximum performance and extended battery life by optimally controlling coolant fluid, providing a cost-effective solution for anyone wanting to use electricity from renewable energy sources.
