Smart Energy Storage for the Future
The energy sector is undergoing transformation. Solar parks, industrial operations, and other stakeholders require intelligent energy storage systems. This is where FENECON’s Industrial L comes into play. This large-scale storage system makes it possible to store energy sustainably and use it flexibly – whether for peak load shaving, self-consumption optimization, or participation in the energy market.
A key unique selling point of the Industrial L is the use of obsolete EV batteries from renowned automotive manufacturers – lithium-ion batteries with high energy density. Until now, integrating such batteries into industrial storage systems was complex, as connection systems in the automotive and industrial sectors follow different standards. Battery modules had to be completely disassembled before installation. Now, a new approach enables entire modules to be installed and connected easily. This innovative use conserves resources and reduces effort.

VOSS: The Bridge Between Automotive and Energy Storage
FENECON needed a partner to bring this vision to life. Enter VOSS Automotive. As an expert in innovative line and connection technology – especially in thermal management for electric vehicles – VOSS is the ideal partner to unite the specific requirements of energy storage with automotive industry standards.
The goal of the partnership was clearly defined: to develop an efficient and robust line and connection system for the battery cooling system. This system would enable the integration of complete automotive battery modules into the Industrial L without the need for complex disassembly.

Innovative Technology: The VOSS Solution in Detail
VOSS developed a specially adapted thermal management system that meets the stringent demands of the automotive industry and the specific requirements of energy storage. The core of the system is formed by the VOSS quick connect systems 270 and 272, which stand out thanks to their compact design, simple (dis)assembly, and high reliability.
Another highlight is the double flow stop valve, which prevents coolant leakage during maintenance or module replacement. This innovation not only ensures leak-tightness but also contributes to a longer system lifespan. In addition, vent valves, temperature sensors, and optional flow sensors allow for even more precise control and monitoring.
Beyond developing the components, VOSS also takes on the complete engineering process – from CAD-based line planning and simulations to validation and testing. A hydraulic balancing ensures that all modules in the system receive equal cooling performance.

Sustainability Meets Maximum System Performance
Thanks to the collaboration between VOSS and FENECON, the Industrial L stands as a prime example of sustainable innovation. The storage system delivers 736 kW of power and a total capacity of 1.28 MWh. It can be scaled flexibly as needed and operates especially efficiently by powering down individual inverters in partial load operation. This extends the lifespan of components while reducing operating costs.
